The equal marriage vote of 2013 paved the way to same-sex marriage in the UK.

The House of Commons voted by a majority of 400 to 175 to redefine marriage and make it available to all.

The Bill passed its Second Reading in the House of Lords on 3 and 4 June 2013, after a vote of 390 (72%) votes to 148 (28%) rejected a wrecking amendment that would have denied it a second reading.

Annabel and her partner initially booked a Civil Partnership, but following the outcome of the vote, the registrar offered the opportunity to 'upgrade'!

Considering this a pivotal moment for equal rights and an opportunity not to be missed, Annabel and her partner were married in July 2014.
